These two ailments can often present in a similar way. So how can you identify them to know how to rectify the situation? Here are some tips that might help.

Identifying Wood Rot

Wood that is affected by rot tends to have a soft, spongy, or crumbly texture. You may be able to press your finger into the wood or even break off pieces easily.

Color

Rotting wood can appear brown, gray, or even white. The color can vary depending on the type of wood and the stage of decay.
