Keep the Itsy Bitsy Spider Out This Fall

We’re well into fall and enjoying the crisp air, plump pumpkins, and spiders… well, maybe not those. People may be putting up fake spiders outside around this time, but no one wants them in home. Unfortunately they’re thriving this fall. While fake cobwebs make great porch décor, real ones in the corner of your ceiling— not so festive. Don’t worry — at Eid-Co Homes, we’re all about helping you keep your dream home spider-free (and spooky only by choice). So grab your broom and let’s talk about the best ways to keep spiders from setting up camp in your Eid-Co home this October.

Keep It Clean, Like You Mean It

Spiders love clutter — it’s their version of a five-star resort. Dusty corners, piles of laundry, and that untouched box in the basement all make cozy hideaways. Regular cleaning not only evicts any current creepy crawlies but also sends a strong “no vacancy” message to new ones.

Pro tip: Vacuum webs, corners, and baseboards weekly. Yes, even behind the couch.

Go Natural — Spiders Hate It

Spiders may be stealthy, but they’ve got sensitive noses. Scents like peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, and citrus act like natural bug repellents. Mix 10 drops of essential oil with water in a spray bottle, give it a shake, and spritz around doors, windows, and corners.

Your house will smell amazing, and the spiders will scurry off faster than kids after free candy.

Seal the Deal (Literally)

Check around your windows, doors, and vents — those tiny gaps are basically open invitations for spiders to come in and say “hi.” Add weatherstripping, caulk cracks, and make sure your screens are snug and tear-free. Your energy bills will thank you, and so will your sanity.

Turn Off the Lights (Outside, That Is)

Outdoor lights attract insects. Insects attract spiders. You see where this is going. Keep outdoor lights off when you don’t need them, or switch to yellow “bug” bulbs that attract fewer pests. It’s a simple fix that cuts the spider buffet line short.

Trim the Bushes (and the Spiders’ Highway)

Those overgrown shrubs or tree branches touching your home? They’re basically spider superhighways. Trim back plants and move firewood at least five feet away from your foundation. A little landscaping cleanup goes a long way in breaking the bug commute route.

Know When to Call the Pros

If you’ve done all this and still find a web city forming in your basement, it might be time to call in pest control. Some spiders are harmless — others, not so much. A professional can identify what’s lurking and make sure your home stays arachnid-free.

Keep the Spooky Outside Where It Belongs

At Eid-Co Homes, we know your house is meant for comfort, not creepy crawlies. Follow these tips and you’ll keep your home cozy, clean— minus the uninvited eight-legged guests. So this October, enjoy your cobwebs where they belong: on the porch, next to a pumpkin, not in your pantry.
